On this date in 1979, The Selecter released their first single of their own, "On My Radio". It was backed by "Too Much Pressure". Some versions of their debut album, Too Much Pressure contained the A side of the single. The B side was included on all versions of the album but it was a different version of the song. The single version was added as a bonus track on the CD re-release. Their label? 2 Tone, of course. The single reached the #8 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The band's first release was actually the B side of the joint single, Gangsters Vs. The Selecter with The Specials. Their contribution was an instrumental called "The Selecter". The Coventry, England ska band disbanded in 1982 after two albums. The band re-formed in 1991 and have released several albums since then.
