On this date in 1977, The Electric Circus closed its doors. The Manchester, England nightclub had been an important venue in the history of punk, opening its doors to new and innovative acts. On this last night, there were performances by Warsaw, The Prefects, The Worst, John Cooper Clarke, The Fall, Magazine and Buzzcocks. Even John The Postman got is turn as he jumped on stage at the end to begin a singalong of "Louie Louie". A compilation of live material recorded the last weekend at The Electric Circus was released later.
