Divinyls - Music From Monkey Grip

On this date in 1982, Divinyls released their debut EP, Music From Monkey Grip, the soundtrack from a movie. The EP contained their single, "Boys In Town". The EP reached the #25 spot on the Australian albums chart. The Sydney, Australia new wave band disbanded in 1996 but re-formed recently.

Haircut One Hundred - Love Plus One

On this date in 1982, Haircut One Hundred released their second single, "Love Plus One". It was backed by "Marine Boy". Both tracks appeared on their debut album, Pelican West. The song reached the #3 spot on the U.K. singles chart and the #37 spot on the U.S. singles chart. The Kent, England new wave band released two albums (the latter after singer Nick Heyward went on to pursue a solo career) and disbanded in 1984.

On this date in 1980, Ralph Records released an album of west coast punk/avante garde bands. It contained tracks by Chrome, The Residents, MX-80 and Tuxedomoon. The release was called Subterranean Modern.
