Colin Newman - B

On this date in 1980, Colin Newman released his debut solo single, "B". It was supported by "The Classic Remains" and "Alone On Piano". The A side appeared on his debut solo album, A-Z. The other tracks did not but were added when the album was re-released on CD. The guitarist and vocalist for punk/post punk band Wire did not slow down when the band was put on hiatus. He released a series of solo albums before rejoining the band when it became active again. Colin Newman's solo work was more experimental than Wire's sound.

Killing Joke - Requiem

On this date in 1980, Killing Joke released their third single, "Requiem". It was backed by "Change". The A side appeared on their self-titled debut album in the U.K. The B side did not but it was included on the U.S. version of the album. The London post-punk band disbanded in 1996 but re-formed a few years ago. The band has been touring recently with frontman Jaz Coleman, of course, at the front who is no longer living in Iceland preparing for the apocalypse. Yes, he once did that.
