The Nips - Gabrielle

On this date in 1979, The Nips released their third single, "Gabrielle". The B side was "Vengeance". They had been called The Nipple Erectors originally but radio wouldn't touch the name so they shortened it. The London punk band released four singles before disbanding in 1980. They were led by Shane McGowan (later, of The Pogues) though he was known as Shane O'Hooligan at the time. They have played some reunion gigs recently.

Au Pairs - You

On this date in 1979, Au Pairs released their debut single, "You". It was backed by "Domestic Departure" and "Kerb Crawler". None of the tracks appeared on their debut album, Playing With A Different Sex (released in 1981), but they were added as bonus tracks when the album was re-released on CD. The Birmingham, England post punk band disbanded in 1983 after two studio albums and one live album.

Felt - Index

On this date in 1979, Felt released their debut single, "Index". It was backed by "Break It". Neither track appeared on an album. The Birmingham, England post-punk band split in 1989 but not before producing ten albums.
